Editorial Policy
This policy describes how content on Space Arcade Games is created, reviewed, tested and corrected. It covers the games, the gameplay guides and the information pages, and it applies to everything published under the name of the Space Arcade Games Editorial Team.
What our content is for
Our guides exist to help players understand and enjoy space arcade games: how controls work, why scores rise the way they do, how enemy waves and power-ups are structured, and what habits lead to better runs. A guide earns its place if a reader finishes it knowing something practical they did not know before. We do not publish pages written only to capture search traffic, and we do not pad articles to reach a word count.
Originality
Every game and article on the site is written for this site. We do not copy or lightly rewrite other websites' articles, and we do not republish press material. When we discuss the history of arcade games, we describe genre conventions in general terms, such as "early vector-graphics asteroid games," rather than naming or borrowing from commercial franchises. Game art and sound are created in code or hand-written SVG; see the copyright policy.
Accuracy about our own games
A guide that mentions one of our games may only describe mechanics that the game really has. Before publishing, the reviewer checks each such statement against the game itself. For example, a guide can say that Space Shooter brings a mothership with a health bar every fifth wave, because it does; it cannot invent a secret boss, an unlockable ship or a difficulty mode that does not exist. If a game is later changed, guides that describe it are updated to match.
Game testing
Each game is tested before it is published and again after significant changes. Testing is done in two setups:
- Desktop with a keyboard, checking every listed key, including
Pto pause andRto restart, and mouse controls where a game supports them. - Mobile with touch, checking the on-screen control pad, drag or tap controls where supported, readability of the HUD on a small screen and that the page does not scroll or zoom unexpectedly during play.
Testers also confirm that personal bests save correctly, the sound toggle works, the difficulty curve matches the game's description, and the game over screen and Play Again behave as expected.
Human review and AI-assisted drafting
AI tools may be used to assist with drafting text, such as producing a first outline or a rough version of a section. Nothing is published without human review and editing. A human editor is responsible for every published page and checks it for:
- accuracy about our games, verified against the games themselves;
- correctness of any real-world science or web technology statement, following our fact-checking process;
- clear separation between arcade mechanics and real science;
- usefulness, clarity and the removal of filler, repetition and hype;
- compliance with our copyright principles and the absence of franchise names or material.
Text that cannot be verified is cut rather than published.
No fabricated expertise
We do not invent authors, experts, credentials, quotes, reviews, testimonials, player counts or statistics. Content is credited to the Space Arcade Games Editorial Team because that is who produces it. We do not present ourselves as astronauts, scientists or aerospace engineers, and we do not claim that our games teach real spaceflight. We also avoid claims about health or cognitive benefits from playing games.
Corrections
When we find an error, or a reader reports one through the contact page, we check it against the game or a reliable source. If the report is correct, we fix the page. Substantive corrections, those that change the meaning of a statement, advice or instructions, are made promptly and the page's "updated" date is changed. Small fixes such as typos may be made without a date change. We do not quietly rewrite a page to hide that something was wrong when readers may have relied on it.
Keeping content current
Guides are reviewed when a related game changes, when browser behavior or web standards referenced in a guide change, and during periodic reviews of the whole site. Pages about controls and mobile play get particular attention, because browsers and devices change over time. Each page shows the date it was last updated.
Separation from advertising
The site carries no advertising today. If advertising is added, it will be clearly distinguishable from editorial content. Advertisers will have no input into which games we build, what guides we write, what they say or how games are described. We will not publish paid content disguised as editorial content. Ads are not endorsements, as our disclaimer explains.
