How to Play

  1. Press Start Game. Your ship flies automatically; you only control its sideways position.
  2. Asteroids fall from the top of the screen at different sizes and angles. Steer into the gaps between them.
  3. Let a rock pass very close to your ship without touching it to earn a +25 near-miss bonus.
  4. Collect the hexagonal S capsule to switch your Shield on. It absorbs one asteroid hit and then turns off.
  5. One hit without a shield ends the run. Press Play Again or R to try again.

Objective

Fly as far as you can. Every meter of distance adds a point, and near misses add extra. There is no finish line: the field keeps getting faster and denser until an asteroid catches you.

Difficulty progression

The Speed level shown in the HUD rises every 400 m. Each level makes the asteroids fall faster, spawn more often and grow larger, up to a speed cap. Early levels leave wide gaps; from about level 5 the field becomes dense enough that you need to plan two or three rocks ahead.

Tips

  • Stay near the middle third of the screen so you can escape in either direction.
  • Watch the top edge, not your ship. Deciding early leaves room for small corrections.
  • Use short taps rather than holding a direction; the ship accelerates quickly and overshooting is the most common crash.
  • Only chase near misses on small, slow rocks. A 25-point bonus is never worth the whole run.
  • When you have a shield, you can afford a riskier line through a crowded gap. Without one, take the widest gap even if it is further away.
  • On touch screens, dragging on the game is more precise than the arrow buttons for small adjustments.

About Asteroid Dodge

Asteroid Dodge is the simplest game on Space Arcade Games to pick up: one axis of movement, one kind of hazard and one clear goal. That simplicity is what makes it a good score-chasing game. Because you cannot shoot, every asteroid has to be read and avoided, and the only way to get better is to look further ahead.

The asteroids are generated in code as irregular, rotating polygons, so no two runs look the same. Their hitboxes are slightly smaller than the drawn rocks, which rewards brave near misses without punishing you for a pixel of overlap. The game is designed to be played in short sessions, and your personal best is saved locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot the asteroids in Asteroid Dodge?

No. Asteroid Dodge is a pure dodging game with no weapons. If you want to blast rocks and enemies, try Space Survival or Space Shooter.

How does the near-miss bonus work?

When an asteroid passes below your ship without touching it and its edge came within a few pixels of your hull, you receive 25 bonus points and a Near miss message appears.

Does the Shield last forever?

The Shield stays on until it absorbs one asteroid hit. After that it switches off and you need to collect another S capsule.

Is my best score saved?

Yes. Your personal best is saved in your browser's local storage on this device. It is not uploaded anywhere and there is no online leaderboard.
